DOOM
SHIPS
In the 1840's the famine caused
a mass exidous from the isle of Ireland.
Hundreds of thousands of people
fled the plight and of the famine and the tyranny of the British
government whom caused the famine by refusing access to the food that was
in the country.
They fled by the only means
they had, the sea..
I tried to combine and merge
the idea of the sea, the ship and the misery of the journey out ancestors
endured to provide a better future for their children and their children's
children.
On the first ship I tried to
encapsulate the ship on the sea and the sea on the ship, for the sea is
as much a part of all the projects as the journey its self.
"water,
water every where
and
all the boards did shrink,
water,water
every where
nor
any drop to drink,"
