To capture the idea of fear brought on by water,I made wave shapes out of metal,they have a sharp,fear invoking appearance(well I tried anyway!).Some are cut from card ,as the metal cutter had a bit of an accident!They are covered in fine netting&painted in acrylic(blues,greens&whites) on one side and have various surfaces on the other side,both sides are varnished.This is to show the extremes of fear and calm.
These are all mounted on a wooden base. There are various pictures super imposed on the base,they have a personal theme. To bring in the emmigration theme I have placed beads on the base.These are from my aunt in Zimbabwe. I have placed a distorted image of myself in square in the top lefthand corner of the base,to show disorientation.The base has been sand papered down in places,and then coated in wood dye.
