All images are inspired by the poem "The Rising of the Moon," written by John Keegan Casey.

The dominant image that in this poem is the pike, the weapon which was used in the Wexford rebellion of 1798. "The Rising of the Moon" was a ballad written by John Keegan Casey to the air of "The Wearing of the Green," often associated with the abortive Fenian rebellion in 1867. Casey seems keen to evoke the pike's symbolic, talismanic power.
