Sustainable Agriculture Research Group

In conjunction with Teagasc Research Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy (Dr James Humphries), SARG has been successful in securing funding of €300,000 under the Dept of Agriculture Stimulus Fund for research into the impact of grass-clover grazing systems for organic winter milk production and the effects on nitrate losses to groundwater. Two post-graduate students and a post-doctoral fellow are currently involved in the research based at Moorepark.

Research completed in 2006 leading to a Masters Degree based on funding from private industry worth €20,000, investigated the overland flow and yield factors of an organic phosphate fertilizer on grassland.
