Main Lab and Meeting Room/Conference Centre
The main room for the MPRG in the Waterford Institute of Technology is D08. This is our conference room and also a lab.
Here we have video-conferencing facilities, flat-screen displays for presentations, various pieces of equipment used in different studies - and the kettle for brewing tea and coffee!
We meet here twice a month for updates on publications related to our research so that we can always keep at the cutting edge of knowledge. We also meet here on a monthly basis to discuss matters arising from the group, funding, updates on our own research and so forth.

Serum laboratory
The MPRG serum laboratory is a fully equipped laboratory that allows in-house analysis of serum levels of lutein and zeaxanthin, the two carotenoids that make up macular pigment, Vitamin A and E. The gold standard technique of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is used incorporating a validated assay specifically developed by Dr. John Nolan of the MPRG.
Other areas of interest include DNA analysis.
We continually seek new approaches to analysis and look forward to developing our lab further.
If you would like a quote for serum analysis, or require further information on our analysis techniques or capabilities please do not hesitate to contact Dr John Nolan at mprgresearch@wit.ie
