Grad. Dip. in Business (Farm Financial Management)
This programme is delivered over two years on a part-time basis. It was originally developed in conjunction with Teagasc, the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority and has been running since 2001.
The programme is designed for graduates in agricultural science and related disciplines who wish to acquire knowledge and develop skills in the area of financial management. Recent changes to the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy have heralded in a new market-oriented era in Irish agriculture. Farmers, their advisors and trainer and the agri-business sector generally must embrace the new imperatives of market-led, commercial farming. This programme has been designed with this in mind.
Participants also study a variety of modules in management, professional practice, law, taxation and the economic environment. The programme helps participants to improve their effectiveness as professionals by broadening their academic and skills base; enhance their career and promotional prospects; and provide a gateway to further post-graduate study in business.
The vast majority of participants to-date have been professional advisors and trainers from Teagasc. Completion rates and academic performance have been very high. Many graduates of the programme have progressed their careers and are making enhanced contributions to their organization even in the short space of time that has elapsed since completing the programme.
