Personal Financial management has been highlighted by both the Central Bank and Government as a key concern for the Irish public. The course aims to advise participants on all aspects of personal spending and financial transactions from how to chose a mortgage, insurance, banking etc. Furthermore it offers participants the opportunity to appraise some of the available options for significant personal transactions.
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
> Assess the best options to take in relation personal financial transactions
> Identify ways of achieving value for money
> Calculate their own personal tax under PAYE or as a small sole-trader
> Understand the current Tax allowances and credits available
> Balance statements with Revenue at tax year end thus claiming for all allowances
> Appraise the Mortgage, short-term and long-term personal loan options
> Appraise the best savings opportunities, particularly in light of SSIA funds
> Determine the differences in rates as offered by competing financial organisations
> Calculate the APR (Annual Percentage Rates) of loan terms
> Appraise investment opportunities Stock Exchange, Property,
