This course follows on directly from the Diploma in Interior Design, and students must obtain a sufficient grade in that course to be allowed to continue on. Each lesson contains an assignment so that students can immediately practice the new skills they have learned, and continuous assessment plays an important part towards the final grade. Although this course in Interior Architecture is considerably more detailed than the previous course in Interior Design, it is usually run over one year, and is both intensive and challenging (like the design industry itself)!) Successful completion will fully prepare students to work in the commercial design industry, and the final module will help them to decide on the best path for their talent.
The following modules are covered:
> Design History & Period Dcor
> Design Communication
> Construction & Structural Renovation
> Commercial Design
> Design Materials & Furnishings
> Professional Practice
Students will need to purchase a number of materials in order to complete the assignments on the course. The most expensive is an A1 size drawing board (which costs approx.€175). A full set of materials needed by students will be provided on request.
