Derrinstown Stud Farms, Maynooth, Co. Kildare: This is an unusual placement position, reporting to the manager of one of the premier stud farms in Ireland, with 2,000 acres and seven stallions in residence. It is mostly suited to someone who likes dealing with horses and has an interest in working in this industry in the future. This is a world-class centre of excellence for horses and their owners, employing around 90 people. There is a brochure in the Flexible Semester office in D18 with more details. The student employed last year was involved in assisting with veterinary work, ordering of materials and feedstock, assisting with planning of visitors including showing of stock and hands-on support with ongoing daily tasks with the horses. Jobs from Last Week
There have been very few direct applicants for the following four positions advertised last week. In the present economic climate there are very few jobs for students. We suggest that some of you may want to think about applying for some of these positions. We placed students in these companies in the past and we have no hesitation in recommending them:
Glavin and Ronan, Kilmagner, Fermoy, Co. Cork: An accounting placement available in this large accounting practice. Website: www.fermoyaccountants.ie/
Ger Motherway, Accountants, Youghal, Co. Cork: An accounting placement available in this large accounting practice. Quote from last year’s student: “I truly enjoyed my work placement. I thoroughly enjoyed the work itself and working with the people that I was working with. It has certainly made the prospect of working after my final year a lot less daunting”
Website: www.germotherway.com
Pims Business Systems Ltd:, Dunhill Business Park, Co. Waterford: Opening for a marketing stream student. The company provides “software, implementation, training, support & stationery on all Sage Products”. Due to location of offices, the student should have own transport. Quote from last year’s student: “This experience is the best thing that ever happened to me. I have made some really good friends…what I really liked is I got to try a huge range of different roles within the business. I found some direction for my life which is a huge relief to me”. Website is: www.pims.ie/services.htm
SWS Bandon, Co. Cork: A large wind energy company. An accounting placement position available with a wide exposure to general accounting work. Quote from last year’s student: “The friendly staff and atmosphere at SWS were a big motivation factor for getting up in the morning and doing a good days work. There was very little that I did not enjoy” website: www.swsenergy.ie/

We still do not have all your CVs - we cannot get you a placement position without having your CV and your response form. There are 16 students for whom we do not have CVs and we are missing response forms for 14 students. We have put the names of these students on a list on the door of the Office at D18.
