BBS weekly udpdate as at Friday 9 January 2009 Posted: Mon, January 12, 2009 |
For the latest statistics, follow this link.
Jobs update: 5 Jobs secured last week - Clinton Flynn, Morris Oil, Pims Systems and 2 jobs secured directly by students.
The above job numbers do not include another 5 jobs secured by students directly as we are awaiting confirmation from their employers. This would bring the number up to 57 (71%). We are also awaiting the result of interviews held in St. Dominic’s Credit Union last Friday. This would be an additional placement.
Interviews still to happen: Interviews will be held in Skelly Sullivan, Carrick-on-Suir on Tuesday this week. There is also a possibility of interviews in Abbott Laboratories, Cleaboy Business Park, Genzyme and McInerneys in the next 2 weeks. This could bring the final number placed to around 65.
Phase-over Plan - this week:
If you do not have a definite placement you should have returned to college on Monday January 12 and Tuesday January 13 and attended flexible semester lectures for New Venture Initiative or College and Community. If your CV is with a company and you are awaiting interview, you should still report to college and attend lectures. Details of time and place for lectures are on the School Notice Board.
Last Day for interviews: Interviews with companies mentioned above may happen in the next 2 weeks, ending on Friday 23 January. After that there will be no more interviews.
You should let Annette Toms at atoms@wit.ie know if you have secured a work placement position yourself.
Log Books: Those students who have secured a work placement position should complete the header page of the log book as soon as possible after commencing employment and either post or fax (fax no. 051 302688) the signed front page to Annette Toms at the Work Placement Office. This gives the name and address of the employer, name of your supervisor and contact e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. The template for the log book header page is on the placement website: http://www2.wit.ie/SchoolsDepartments/SchoolofBusiness/workplacement/LogBooks/
Your Mentor: In due course a college mentor will be appointed for those of you who have secured a work placement. This may be one of the placement team or one of the BBS lecturers. Your college mentor will contact you in due course and visit you during your work placement.
We wish you all the best of luck with your flexible semester.
