Jobs update:  There are 6 jobs secured by students directly that are not included above as we await confirmation from the employers.  This would bring the number up to 53 (66%).

Interviews this week:  Interviews in Clinton Flynn, Morris Oil, St Dominick’s Credit Union and possibly Cleaboy Business Park and Pims Systems. 

CVs sent:  Last week in December to Genzyme (HR); this week to Morris Oil (accounting) and St Dominick’s CU (marketing).   

We have CVs with the following 10 companies at the moment that we hope that some of them will schedule interviews for next week:  Curran Signs, Fitzgerald Nurseries, Fitzgerald Power, Genzyme, Glavin and Rohan, Hilti, McInerneys, Michael Walsh, Selfcatering.ie and Skelly O'Sullivan. 

Phase-over Plan - next few weeks:
Decision Date:  Monday January 12 is the last day for you to make a decision on what you are going to do during the flexible term.  If you do not have a work placement position on that date you need to let us know what other option you are taking.  You will need to return to college on Monday January 12 and attend a flexible semester lecture for new venture initiative or college and community.  If we do not hear from you by that date we will assume you have opted for college and community.  Time and place for lectures on Monday will be on the School Notice Board.

For those of you who did not secure a position:  This year was by far the most difficult year we have had in getting work placement jobs.  In a survey we did in July, 59% of companies said that the economic downturn would affect work placement positions, and that has happened.  Less than 40% of companies that we dealt with in 2006 and 2007 took on students this year.  We are sorry that not all of you got positions and we wish you well in your College and Community or New Venture Initiative semester.    

Last Day for interviews:   There will be no interviews conducted after Friday 9th January unless the interview was arranged prior to January 9th.
