Posted: Mon, October 6, 2008

At this stage, students have been placed in E&Y, PWC, Asples and Tesco.

Interviews:  Zurich Insurance Ireland are interviewing this Thursday for positions in Wexford.  Job descriptions on the work placement office board in D20.  There is still time to get your CV to this company and arrange an interview on Thursday; contact Annette.

Datapac Enniscorthy has informed us that they could not commit at this stage to taking students for their Enniscorthy Office.

We got a great response to our e-mail of last week listing the companies with jobs available.  We are sending your CVs to all these companies and we will keep you informed as we get responses and set up interviews.  Please keep checking your e-mails every day.

New Opportunities as at October 3
In these status reports we will draw attention to jobs received from companies that may interest some of you even though:
1. They may be located in places you did not consider when you did your location preferences.
2. The nature of the job may be different than normal

Here are some jobs that have arisen this week:

Allied Irish Banks: There are work placement jobs available in the AIB bank at the Bank Centre HQ in Ballsbridge in Dublin mainly (there might be some jobs in other locations).  These are mainly financial roles.  Let us know if you would like your CV sent to AIB.  We hope to send CVs by the end of this week and the interviews will be in a few weeks.

Mount Sion Heritage Centre, Barrack St. Waterford:  The Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre Ltd aims to develop Mt Sion in Waterford in the first instance as a prime heritage centre of the Christian Brothers and Presentation Brothers Congregations. They require a marketing student “who could develop a marketing strategy for the heritage centre as well as propose and implement some of the strategies”.  There is an information leaflet on the board in the work placement office at D20.  See website:  www.edmundrice.ie

Irish College, Leuven, outside Brussels, Belgium: The role of the Louvain Institute for Ireland in Europe is to facilitate the process of EU awareness in Ireland, the promotion of the Arts/Culture of Ireland within Mainland Europe and as a residence for Irish students, writers and artists.  One or two very interesting positions have become available, somewhat different than our normal jobs.  These jobs are in administration with very varied tasks including reception-type work from time to time.  The person needs good people skills, good communication skills and good keyboard skills.  The office language is English.

The position would suit a down-to-earth, sensible, confident person who could think on their feet and work without detailed direct supervision, using their own initiative.

The job would seem suitable to a marketing-type student or one from the management stream.  A HR-stream student might also be interested due to the interaction with people.  The job is for eight months. The position comes with full board and lodging provided on the campus.  In addition, a payment of €125 is made per week to cover miscellaneous expenses.  See website for more details of this college: www.louvaininstitute.com

Let us know if you would like your CV to be sent to any of these companies.

Interview clothes: We remind you to have your interview clothes always available in Waterford so that you are available for interview at short notice.  We try to give as much notice as possible but sometimes this is not possible.

CVs/Response Forms:  If you are not in you can’t win - if we do not have your response form and CV we cannot get you an interview.

Check e-mails and Website: Again we remind you to check your e-mails daily and also check the website each day in case e-mails are not getting through to you.
