BBS weekly update as at Friday 23 November 2007 Posted: Mon, November 26, 2007

This report is directed to all students who do not have a work placement position as at Friday November 23.  We have 65 students placed at this stage, 54% of total.

Those who do not have a placement yet may want to think about being more flexible on location preferences and may want to become more proactive in seeking a position.  We remind you that the final responsibility for getting a position rests with you.   We can provide you with a letter of introduction to give to prospective employers in the locations of your choice.

Interviews this week: 
On Monday Morris Oil, on Wednesday VHI and Alza (at their facility in Cashel)  and on Friday Levingstone & Co., Wexford.

Opportunities as at November 26
Note that we put job descriptions, when available, on the notice board in the placement office and you should have a look at what is there from time to time.  If you like a particular job or jobs you can let us know and we will send your CV to the employers. 

Michael Walsh & Company, Chartered Accountants & Registered Auditor, Washington Lodge, Newtown, Waterford:  Have an opening for an accounting student.  Duties include assisting on the completion of company audits, working on the preparation of sole trader accounts and income, corporation tax and VAT compliance among other general office duties. 

Hodson Bay Hotel and Sheraton Athlone Hotel have openings for Accounting/Economics, Management and Marketing students.  We do not have job descriptions.  The Hodson Bay Hotel is a four star hotel on Lough Ree on the Shannon in Co. Westmeath which has undergone major expansion and renovation recently and the Sheraton Athlone Hotel is a new hotel which will be opening shortly in the centre of Athlone.  

PFPC Wexford:   There is a possibility of further placements with PFPC for accounting / economics & finance.    This is not confirmed as yet but, if you think you might be interested, please let us know.
