BBS weekly update as at Friday 15 November 2007

This report is directed to all BBS students who do not have a work placement position as at Friday November 16.  This was a slow week for placements.  We have 57 students placed at this stage.

Interviews this week: On Monday and Tuesday AOL Waterford HR position, on Wednesday Wexford VEC accounting / HR position, On Thursday Moog Ltd Cork HR role, and on Friday Clearstream Technology Eniscorthy Co. Wexford, HR and Marketing positions.   There may be interviews for KPMG Restructuring on Friday - we will let those of you who applied know as soon as we can this week but be prepared. 

Opportunities as at November 19
Note that we put job descriptions for these jobs on the notice board in the placement office and you should have a look at what is there from time to time.  If you like a particular job or jobs you can let us know there and then and we will send your CV to the employers.

We would also like to remind you that the final responsibility for getting you a position rests with you.  We can provide you with a letter of introduction to give to prospective employers in the locations of your choice.  

Here are some of the jobs we are trying to fill at the moment, in alphabetic sequence.  We will be sending CVs for these in the next week. 

Astellas Killorglin Co. Kerry have an opening for an accounting student.   We placed a student here  last year and she received excellent experience.  This is a Japanese pharmaceutical company with a modern factory just outside Killorglin.  The job is in a small accounting section of around 6 persons and involves all aspects of accounting - payables, receivables, cash, management accounting and financial accounting.

Dawn Farm Foods in Naas in Co. Kildare - have an opening for a management or marketing stream student.

Ericsson:  Their Education Department based in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin have openings in two areas:

  • They are looking for several students from a Business, Finance or Marketing background for positions involved in handling customer training requests and allocating instructors/equipment for their customers worldwide. This role also involves strong interaction with their Finance department and will include preparation of monthly reports.  Would suit non-accounting streams students.
  • They also have a Revenue Accounts Assistant role open to accounting/economics students. Person will be using SAP in a typical revenue accounting role - dealing with customers, processing orders, invoices, credit notes, monthly accounts closing duties and weekly reporting etc.

Kylemore Foods Group Finglas Dublin have accounting positions at their HQ.  See job description in placement office.  For information about this long-running Irish company, check their website.

Mangans Cash and Carry in Ennis has an opening again this year for a marketing student.   Cian Royston spoke in the auditorium in September about his excellent experience with Mangans.  Person needs a full driving licence. 

Meadowfresh Meats at Tallow in West Waterford have an opening for a marketing student.  Job details not available yet but will be posted on notice board when received

VHI, Kilkenny:  They intend to interview at the end of November.  They have 20 open positions for students from all streams.  We have already sent them some CVs from students who expressed a direct interest in VHI when they completed their Response Forms and also from students who asked us to do so following our progress report last week but they are still keen to received further CVs.
