This report is directed to all students who do not have a work placement position as at Friday November 9. This is our third status report for students. We have 54 students placed at this stage.
Interviews this week: On Tuesday Tramore Credit Union - marketing position, Wednesday Aidan McAvenue - accounting position and Thursday Braun Carlow - accounting position. There may be others organized as we get into the week.
Opportunities as at November 12
As we did on our first update to you, we draw attention to jobs received from companies that may interest some of you even though:
1. They may be located in places you did not consider when you did your location preferences.
2. The nature of the job may be different than normal
Note that we put job descriptions, where available, for possible openings on the notice board in the placement office and you should have a look at what is there from time to time. If you like a particular job or jobs you can let us know there and then and we will send your CV to the employers.
Here are some exciting jobs that we are trying to fill at the moment. VHI, AOL, Ericsson, Kylemore Foods Group are new this week and Sage has an additional position based in Cork:
VHI, Kilkenny: They intend to interview at the end of November. They have 20 open positions for students from all streams. We have sent them some CVs already for those students who expressed a direct interest in VHI when they completed their response forms.
AOL Ireland Waterford has openings for students from all streams. These are not call desk jobs. This is a large international employer and we currently have 2 BA BIS students on work placement there that are really enjoying their experience.
Ericsson LMI in Dun Laoghaire has openings for an accounting, economics and marketing stream students for their Education Department. Ericsson is the largest supplier of mobile systems in the World. Job descriptions on Placement notice board.
Kylemore Foods Group has accounting positions at their HQ in Finglas in Dublin. For information about this long-running Irish company, check their website.
Morris Oil Company, Fiddown, Co. Kilkenny. An accounting position with this oil importer. See placement board for job description. We have had some interest in this position already and we will send CVs later this week to the company.
KPMG Restructuring Dublin. Are looking to recruit four students from WIT as part
of their work placement programme. The job involves contract work in the HSE and a brief outline of the duties involved in the job is on the notice board; job would suit any BBS stream person. Again we have had some interest in this position and will send CVs later this week.
Astellas Killorglin Co. Kerry: We placed an accounting student here last year and she received excellent experience. This is a Japanese pharmaceutical company with a modern factory just outside Killorglin in a beautiful part of Kerry. The job is in a small accounting section of around 6 persons and involves all aspects of accounting - payables, receivables, cash, management accounting and financial accounting..
Mangans Cash and Carry in Ennis has an opening again this year. Cian Royston spoke in the auditorium on 20th about his experiences here. They would like a marketing student. Person needs a full driving licence.
Dawn Farm Foods in Naas in Co. Kildare - have an opening for a management or marketing stream student.
Sage have two openings to support their payroll software in City West Business Park, Naas Road, Dublin and also one opening to support their accounting software in Little Island, Cork.
