We are still awaiting notification from some employers regarding interviews held in the last week or two.  Note that the “CV sent” column indicates how many CVs were sent to prospective employers.  Some CVs have been sent to more than one or two employers.  Please also note that we are ahead of where we were last year at this point in time in terms of jobs secured.

Interviews this week:  On Wednesday (Glanbia Dungarvan - accounting position) and Thursday (BSG Group Waterford - accounting/economics stream -  and Honeywell Turbo - management stream).  There may be others organized as we get into the week.

Opportunities as at November 5
As we did on our first update to you, we draw attention to jobs received from companies that may interest some of you even though:
1. They may be located in places you did not consider when you did your location preferences.  
2. The nature of the job may be different than normal

Note that we put job descriptions, if received, for these jobs on the notice board in the placement office and you should have a look at what is there from time to time.  If you like a particular job or jobs you can let us know there and then and we will send your CV to the employers. 

Here are some exciting jobs that we are trying to fill at the moment: 

Morris Oil Company, Fiddown, Co. Kilkenny.
An accounting position with this oil importer.  See placement board.  This is a long established company that is currently updating their finance and accounting systems.  This is a general accounting office position - covering for maternity leave - in the receivables/debtors area so the person will get exposure to customers, accounting for sales and for cash receipts, cash lodgements and general office duties.   

 
KPMG Restructuring Dublin.  Are looking to recruit four students from WIT as part
of their work placement programme.  The job involves contract work in the HSE and a brief outline of the duties involved in the job is on the notice board; job would suit any BBS stream person.  The person in charge of these jobs in KPMG is a WIT BBS graduate.  KPMG Ireland is the Irish Times "Graduate Employer of the Year" 2007.

Avery Dennison has a European Shared Service Centre at Cork Airport and they are looking for students for accounts payable work.  Involves processing European suppliers’ invoices for various European entities.  This would normally involve booking invoices, accounting for them and processing payment runs as well as communication with the subsidiaries and suppliers and various related ad-hoc accounting work.

Astellas Killorglin Co. Kerry:  We placed an accounting student here last year and she received excellent experience.  This is a Japanese pharmaceutical company with a modern factory just outside Killorglin in a beautiful part of Kerry.  The job is in a small accounting section of around 6 persons and involves all aspects of accounting - payables, receivables, cash, management accounting and financial accounting.

Sage Ireland at Westlink Business Park (off the Naas Road) Dublin have opportunities for an accounting stream student and a marketing stream student.  The students we placed there last year spoke in the auditorium at our meeting of September 20th about their positive experience at Sage - the job content, the training provided and the social life there.  There is more information about Sage on the notice board inside the placement office at D20.

NVD in New Ross has an opening for a student to be a Transport & Route Planning Operator reporting to the Assistant (Logistics) Manager.  Full job description is on the notice board in the placement office.  This is mainly a logistics job and would probably suit a management stream person and someone who likes to be outdoors and likes to deal with different work and problems every day. 

Mangans Cash and Carry in Ennis has an opening again this year.  Cian Royston spoke in the auditorium on 20th about his experiences here.  They would like a marketing student.  Person needs a full driving licence. 

Sam McCauley HQ in Wexford  are looking for a student to do some project-type work by helping install a new IT system for Accounting and HR.    Includes setting up a direct payments banking system.  Person needs to be good at data input, well organised, be very accurate and able to work on own initiative.  Person needs to be very computer literate.  Probably suit a Management Stream person? 

Wicklow Co. Council are looking for an accounting stream student to work at their offices in the council buildings at Whitegates, Wicklow.  

Dawn Farm Foods in Naas in Co. Kildare  - have an opening for a management or marketing stream student.
