Progress Report 20 October 2006
Posted: Mon, October 23, 2006

Note that most CVs have been sent to more than one company.

There are interviews taking place this Wednesday and Thursday and we hope to have advanced the “jobs secured” number by the end of the week.

We have 115 students who want to secure jobs in the Waterford area and we will not be able to get jobs for this many in the area.  I suggest that those who could work elsewhere let us know as soon as possible as you will have a better chance of getting interviews and, hopefully, a position.

Opportunities as at Oct 20

There are some exciting jobs that we are trying to fill and I ask students to let me know if you would like your CV to go forward to one or other of the following companies:

Dunnes Stores, HQ at Dublin City Centre:

Looking for 3 students in Food Buying, Finance and HR at their HQ.  Students must have good computer skills (MS Work and Excel are specified).  Some retail experience would be preferable but not essential for the food buying position (example - experience working in a supermarket would be ideal).  Responses needed this week.

DHL:

Looking for 2 HRM students in Dublin for a very interesting project.  Details from the company:
“We would be very interested in providing a work placement for one of your Business students who may be majoring in CIPD recognised Human Resource Management.  Check out job details here.

Currently we have a team of 6 led by the Head of HR for Ireland.  3 of the 6 are HR Managers, the other 3 working in a generalist role.  Please see the attached role description (attached) which we have put together to present an indication of what the work would involve.  The student would be mentored…… and encouraged to learn during the process to ensure the practical work applies to the theory.

Ideally you would put a few of your best forward and we could interview them for the position.”

Note full job description is attached.  Again let us know this week if you are interested.

Glanbia, Kilkenny:

- Looking for two or more accounting students for their HQ office in Kilkenny.  Let us know this week if you are interested.

Edenderry Credit Union (east Offaly, close to Kildare)

Kildare), Merrill Lynch Dublin, Hewlett Packard (Leixlip), Goldman Sachs Dublin, Canada Life Insurances Dublin.  Anyone interested in being considered for any of these large multinational companies should let us know.

Let us know if you would like your CV to be sent to one or more of these companies.
