WeLearnT eLearning Technologies Research Group
Introduction
WeLearnT undertakes research into eLearning technologies, and the human computer interaction that takes place in an eLearning environment. Our main strengths are the interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and inter-institutional aspects of our research experiences to date, which have encompassed the following aspects:
Good progress with research students and recent graduates. Six WeLearnT senior members are pursuing further research in the area of eLearning and Internet technologies towards a PhD. These members are enrolled in universities in Ireland and Britain and bring a richness and diversity of experience and growth to the group.
Academic Publications: there is a growing list of publications from the members. There has been an encouraging rate of poster presentations and articles from postgraduate students at appropriate conferences throughout their studies.
European Project Experiences: our collaboration with transnational partner institutions are strategic alliances that allow us to contribute and benefit at international level.
Internal Seminars: these offer a rich and encouraging learning experience to our postgraduates and allow them to fine-tune a number of professional qualities and transferable skills.
Key thematic areas for postgraduate students
- ELearning and educational technology
- Multimedia applications in learning and eLearning
- Online learning standards, interoperability and standards bodies
- The use of ontologies and Topic Maps as representational structures in a web-based environment
Members agree that the mutual support, peer-review and encouragement available within the group are of invaluable benefit to each of us at critical times in our research endeavours.
