Biography:
Jamie graduated with a first class honours from the Bachelor of Business Studies degree programme (HRM specialism) at Waterford Institute of Technology in 2005. While completing his degree Jamie worked in Waterford Crystal at various stages and his undergraduate thesis on absence management involved SME’s in the Waterford region which, in turn, gives Jamie a broad insight into a variety of organisational settings. Adding to his experience of a range of organisational contexts from SME to MNC level, Jamie’s PhD centred on an Irish semi-state organisation in the area of innovative management practices through HRM devolution and cross-functional line manager-HR professional collaboration.
Jamie’s ability to dedicate himself to research has been demonstrated by previously securing funding from the the Advanced Scholar Programme, W.I.T (2005/2006), the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (2006-2009) and by recieving the PhD student of the year award 2009. Jamie has published three conference papers from his doctoral study and additional journal publications are currently being developed. Cognisant of the importance of continual professional development, Jamie is a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has and continues to participate in numerous research practice and research methodology courses.
Research Project:
Jamie is currently involved in an innovation lab project which seeks to address the paucity of industry-academic engagement, collaboration and commercialisation in the context of innovation practice.
Research Interests:
Jamie’s background in HRM research has equipped and positioned him to appreciate the interrelatedness of individuals, work practices and organisations themselves in the pursuit of innovation at product, service, process and management levels. Jamie’s research interests lie in interpretive case research relating to the following disciplines; innovative HRM practices, collaboration and cross-functional business relationships/networks.
