Biography:

Dr. Pio Fenton graduated from Cork Institute of Technology in 2001 following the completion of a degree in Computer Applications where he specialised in artificial intelligence for business applications. At this point he undertook a PhD in Artificial Intelligence for Production Scheduling. During this time Dr. Fenton worked with several large pharmaceutical companies in addressing challenges they had in the area of manufacturing scheduling. He completed his PhD in 2006 and immediately undertook a position as a post-doctoral researcher in the department of computing working with the PROTEOBIO proteomics group at CIT. Here he was involved in an extensive multi-researcher area which drew heavily upon his skills as a project manager. Simultaneously he developed relationships with many SMEs and assisted in developing proposals to funding agencies such as Enterprise Ireland.

In 2007 Dr. Fenton joined the School of Business at Waterford Institute of Technology where his multi-disciplinary background and experience has proved to be the bedrock of his research and teaching at the institute. Currently, he is chairperson of the Business Education Teaching & Research Group at WIT and is active in a number of other research areas including project management and supply chain management. Dr. Fenton has also delivered specialist executive education programs for bodies external to WIT.
