The RIKON Group
The RIKON Group is located within the School of Business at Waterford Institute of Technology and carries out funded Research in: Innovation, Knowledge Transfer and Organisational Networks. Utilising the Irish business landscape as a laboratory, the RIKON Group undertakes pioneering research and consultancy into industry-relevant issues and has established itself as one the leading catalyst of change within the business community. The Group’s overarching strategy is to become the leading centre for small business innovation and knowledge management research in Ireland and gain an international reputation for its activities in research and practice.
Since its inception, the RIKON Group has grown to become one of the Ireland’s most respected and prolific research groups in the field . The Group consists of six senior researchers: Dr. Pio Fenton, Dr. Mary T. Holden, Dr. Felicity Kelliher, Dr. Patrick Lynch, Dr. Fiona Murphy, and Dr. Anthony Foley – with specialisations in strategic planning, knowledge management, management information systems, marketing, market orientation, learning, innovation and networks. Core researchers have published in a wide variety of books, refereed journals and leading international conferences.
An integral part of the RIKON mission is to assist SMEs to achieve a business advantage through enhancing their managerial capabilities in innovation and knowledge transfer, and facilitating the development and the management of collaborative business networks. The team are dedicated to delivering actionable insights to business decision makers through cost effective commercial research.
