Pharmaceutical & Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre

Overview

The Pharmaceutical & Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre (PMBRC) recently established at WIT under the Enterprise Ireland Area Research Enhancement scheme comprises a research team with proven expertise in chemical, pharmaceutical and biomedical research with links to international experts and specialists in the Pharma, Biopharma & Biotech sector. Located on the main WIT campus, the 700m2 centre was completed in early 2009 and officially opened in December 2009.

The PMBRC has core competencies in separation science, polymer science, molecular biotechnology, nanotechnology and biomedical science.  Together with its associated partnerships with industry and international experts, the PMBRC activities will encompass the strands identified in the following diagram. These research areas are of commercial and strategic relevance to the institute and to the surrounding pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.

The PMBRC is made up of the following Research Groups:
