Tony McFeely
Acting President

A native of Ballybofey, Co. Donegal, Tony is a past pupil of St. Columb’s College, Derry. He is married to Phyl and has three children.

Education / Career:
Tony commenced his career with the accountancy firm, Oliver Freaney & Co., Dublin and, following completion of his studies, he moved to Galway as Audit Manager with the same firm.

In 1980 he joined Digital Equipment Corporation, initially based in Galway. During the course of his fourteen years with the company Tony worked in both Geneva and Scotland.  His principal roles included European Manufacturing Finance Systems Manager, European Manufacturing Financial Accounting Manager and Financial Services Controller.

In 1994 Tony became Secretary/Financial Controller at Waterford Institute of Technology (then Waterford Regional Technical College).  He was appointed Acting President of the Institute in May 2011.

Qualifications:
Tony is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland.

Waterford Chamber of Commerce

Waterford City Council Audit Committee

Chairperson of the Internal Audit Steering Committee with the Institutes of Technology Ireland (IoTI)

Member of a number of working groups at national level within the Institutes of Technology sector

Interests:
Politics, sport and music. Tony represented his native county, Donegal, at Gaelic Football.
