Release date: Thu, Dec 13, 2007
Paul Buggy, a 24-year-old student on the BA (Hons) in Legal Studies with Business at Waterford Institute of Technology, has become the latest recipient of the Nolan Farrell & Goff merit prize which is presented annually to a high-achieving legal studies student at the Institute.
From Co Carlow, Mr Buggy, who is due to graduate from Waterford next year, hopes to subsequently pursue Law Society of Ireland professional qualifications.
Presenting the prize, Donal O’Connell, Partner, Nolan Farrell & Goff said it provided the firm with an opportunity to support and encourage the next generation of legal professionals.
“We are delighted to again partner with Waterford Institute of Technology to present our annual merit prize. This affords us an opportunity to acknowledge the good work that’s done at the Institute in the whole area of legal education and to recognise the achievements of a particular student who has excelled at their legal studies.
“Paul Buggy is a deserving recipient of this merit prize and in congratulating him, I also wish him well with his future professional career in law where I am confident that he will find interesting and rewarding opportunities to excel.”
Prof Kieran R Byrne, Director, Waterford Institute of Technology added, “Our community of learning is fortunate to work with excellent external partners in the public and private sectors and Nolan Farrell & Goff deserve our appreciation for their support of this merit prize each year.
“While we work with students of very diverse talents, it is right and proper that we shine a light of acknowledgment on those who achieve particular success with their studies as Paul Buggy has done.”
Now one of the largest law firms outside of Dublin, Nolan Farrell & Goff Solicitors & Notaries was established in 1975 when two long established practices in Waterford - George A Nolan & Co (founded 1914) and Farrell & Farrell (founded 1920) - amalgamated.
