First AEHT Workshop in Ireland Posted: Wed, November 12, 2008 |
Waterford Institute of Technology, in conjunction with the Association Européenne des Ecoles d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme (AEHT), hosted a workshop from Wednesday November 12th to Sunday 16th November 2008 on “Information, Communication Technology”. This was the first such AEHT Seminar/Workshop in Ireland
Delegates from a number of European countries attend including:

- Sweden
- Romania
- France
- Italy
- Malta
- Ireland
The following is a brief overview of the areas covered by the workshop
WebCT
WebCT is a system that has been specifically designed to help Academic Staff to create, deliver, administer, and assess online learning within a secure, controlled setting.
H O T S
(HOTS is a computer-based simulation in which teams operate a service business (a hotel) in a dynamic and competitive environment, making decisions in accelerated real-time and analysing results from comprehensive management reports and market feedback)
Video Conferencing” (VC)
- Explanation of video conference standards
- Explanation of required equipment. Standard procedure for using VC equipment
- Possible applications of VC.
“Radio Studio”
Introducing the studio: What's what in a radio studio?
Using the Radio desk: Explaining the controls, and studio technique
Hands on: Your chance to practice & learn, with some hands-on studio time
The Workshop participants departed Waterford on the early hours of Sunday morning for all corners of Europe and WIT would like to thank all the delegates from across Europe for attending.
A spokesperson for the Workshop said it was a delight to host, and a wonderful opportunity to meet Lecturing Colleagues in the field of Hotel and Catering Studies from other Colleges across Europe.
