Nolan Farrell & Goff merit prize presented to mature student at WIT
Posted: Thu, January 28, 2010

Grace Hutchinson, a BA (Hons) in Legal Studies student at Waterford Institute of Technology, has become the latest recipient of the Nolan Farrell & Goff merit prize which is presented annually to a high-achieving legal student at the Institute.

A mature student, Grace was selected for the merit prize having excelled in the Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies with which she was recently conferred.

When she completes the honours degree programme, Grace intends to pursue postgraduate studies in social care with a possible focus on family law and mediation.

Presenting the prize, Donal O’Connell, Partner, Nolan Farrell & Goff, said it provided the firm with an annual opportunity to support and foster future legal professionals who will work in the southeast and beyond.

“We are always delighted to partner with Waterford Institute of Technology to present the annual merit prize which allows us acknowledge the good work done at the Institute in legal education and to recognise the achievements of a particular student in their legal studies.

“Grace has a great record of achievement in her legal studies and we wish her continued success with the honours degree and, later, her Masters studies. She is set for a fulfilling professional career in an interesting area of work.”

Prof Kieran R Byrne, President, Waterford Institute of Technology, added: “In congratulating Grace, we particularly acknowledge the additional life adjustments she has made as a mature student who did not enter third level directly from the Leaving Certificate. On the Institute’s behalf, I also acknowledge the continued support we receive from Nolan Farrell & Goff and our other partners in the commercial world.”

Among the largest law firms outside of Dublin, Nolan Farrell & Goff  Solicitors & Notaries was established in 1975 when two long established practices in Waterford - George A Nolan & Co (founded 1914) and Farrell & Farrell (founded 1920) - amalgamated.
