Seminar Title: Rumour Has It - The Moderating Effect of Identification on Rumour Impact and the Effectiveness of Rumour-reputation

Speaker: Professor Michael Kamins, The Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California

The Waterford Crystal Centre for Marketing Studies at the WIT School of Business is delighted to welcome Professor Michael Kamins of The Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

Prof Kamins' research interests include puffery in advertising, advertising wearout and modeling of the consumer purchase-choice process. He is currently studying the impact of negative marketing, and the use of rumours as a marketing strategy. He also has researched the use of celebrities in advertising, focusing on the match between celebrity and product.

Prof Kamins teaches Marketing and Market research at the University of Southern California, having previously been at New York University and Baruch College.

He has published in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Psychology and Marketing, Harvard Business Review, and Journal of Advertising.

His research interests also include corporate associations and he was the Program Organiser and co-chair of the 3rd Annual Conference on Corporate Reputation held at the University of Southern California in April of 2004. He is an Editorial Review Board Member for the Journal of Advertising and Journal of Business Research. His awards include the Academy of Marketing Science “Outstanding Marketing Teacher Award” in 2002.
