eLearning in WIT

eLearning is used in WIT in many forms and guises to support and complement students and staff in their teaching, learning and assessment practices.   Moodle is the most common vehicle for eLearning in WIT.  Moodle, a software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, has a range of functionality which can combine and enhance the traditional learning environment in an online setting.  This functionality includes content management, email, discussion, calendar and chat room to enhance teacher to student communication.

The eLearning support unit offers eLearning training and support for both staff and students in WIT.   Currently, eLearning workshops focus on providing training for Staff in using Moodle.  As the Moodle user base increases, future eLearning workshops will focus on broader eLearning training as opposed to just focusing on Moodle.

It you have any feedback, suggestions, questions or queries about eLearning in WIT, please send an email to the eLearning Coordinator, Laura Widger, at elearning@wit.ie or phone 051 306166.
